A life on hold

This year, Canada Cares is raising money to support families with young children with disabilities and frail older adults who have been adversely affected by COVID-19. Our goal is to raise $10,000 during our Giving Tuesday outreach.

Meet Kim and Tom

Kim put aside her life and her musical career to care for her 85-year-old grandpa, Tom. Prior to her being there for him, he nearly burned down the house trying to cook, fell down the stairs and broke his ribs. Now, she cooks, does his laundry, takes him to medical appointments, ensures his bills are paid and even cleans up his personal messes in the bathroom. Kim has ulcers, a fractured ankle and recently needed kidney stone operations.

With COVID-19, it’s become difficult to have others in to help. She doesn’t qualify for CERB and has little money or time for herself, her personal care needs or winter clothing. We are asking for gift cards to help her get a few items that she needs. Even $25 or $50 would make a difference to this dedicated caregiver.
