Color & Control:

The Phoenix Man

By Julie Annette Bennett

The Phoenix Man is an intimate, heartfelt account of my 16-year-long caregiving journey with my husband, Scott. Pieced together through personal notes and old email correspondences with family and friends, the book invites readers into my day-to-day experiences caring for Scott through a heart transplant then subsequent aspergillus pneumonia, and later a devastating Alzheimer’s diagnosis. In each chapter, I offer an unflinchingly honest perspective on the reality of caregiving.
