Announcing Designability (TM)

For people with disabilities, activities like reading the morning paper, pouring a glass of milk or pursuing a favourite hobby can be real challenges. That’s where DesignAbility (TM) comes in.

Technically skilled volunteers respond to requests from people with disabilities and work one-to-one with consumers to develop unique and innovative devices that are not commercially available. Solutions are often simple, but can change a person’s life.

There are five active DesignAbility? chapters in Ontario, and volunteers are required across the province to help establish others. If you have a background in engineering, design, manufacturing, mechanics, occupational or physical therapy, administration or group organization and would like to join our volunteer team, we’d like to hear from you.

If you or someone you know needs a specialized device to assist in daily living, DesignAbility (TM) volunteers may be able to help. Residents of Ontario of any age are welcome to contact us for a request form.

For more information about DesignAbility (TM), please contact Kathy Glasser, Provincial Assistive Devices Coordinator, at (519) 579-5530.
