HSBC funding helps Neil Squire prepare Canadians with disabilities for employment

Neil Squire will provide service to 300 working together participants thanks to HSBC support

HSBC has provided a donation of $100,000 to this new program in order to support people like Hayley, who was isolated and searching for work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Between February 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023, Neil Squire’s “Working Together” program will serve at least 300 people with disabilities this year to develop the skills they need to achieve their employment goals through additional funding support from HSBC.

Neil Squire’s Working Together Program was “a lifeline to get a plan in place to search for work while stuck at home.”

Working Together helped Hayley with resume preparation, online job hunting, interview practice and communication etiquette. And all the while gave her a sense of social, community connection at a time when she needed it the most. “I felt stranded and alone and scared. People throw around the word isolated when talking about COVID,” says Hayley. “I was truly isolated and Neil Squire was a lifeline to me.”

In March, Hayley landed a job as a home care aide. She prepares meals, cleans and also provides companionship, a morale boost, medication and appointment reminders for a senior. “My life has improved by working with Neil Squire in so many ways,” she shares.

Working Together also provides employment assistance to businesses of any size looking to hire people with disabilities, by connecting them with qualified candidates and providing ongoing support. Wage subsidies are also available through the program.

With the support of HSBC, Neil Squire will continue to assist people with disabilities like Hayley to gain employment and create positive impact in their lives and in the communities in which they live.
