Project Stone Mason

Term: Permanent-Full Time

Location: Onsite

Shift/Time: Weekdays. 8-hour Day.

*Some weekends

Job title – Project Stone Mason

We are looking for a Project Stone Mason to work on various residential and commercial properties. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude and strong work ethic, works well both independently and in a team, and is confident in their construction abilities. You will be part of our team, where we pride ourselves on our friendly, relaxed, and collaborative work culture. This position will work close with another inhouse stone mason, supervisor and subtrades to handle renovations and construction from new foundations to 18th century property renovations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Report daily to the Project Supervisor

· Engage in new builds and renovations, both residential and commercial

· Organize and prioritize work.

· Read and interpret building plans, drawings, and specifications.

· Complete work in a professional and timely fashion

· Supervise a helper to aid in completion of tasks.

· Organize equipment and building materials.

· Operate equipment including skid steer, telehandler and payloader.

Work Environment:

· Physical activity in a project environment (both inside and outside) such as pushing and pulling, crouching, bending, reaching, as well as some climbing and working at heights.

· Work on sites can be noisy, odorous, hot, humid, cold and/or dusty.

· Occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 kg.

Knowledge and Requirements

· Must have a valid driver’s license.

· Layout, setup and laying of brick, block, natural stone and stone veneer.

· Mortar and grout mixing

· Parging and repointing

· Waterproofing techniques

· Cutting and trimming of various masonry material with hand or power tools.

· Working safely at heights on scaffold or powered equipment.

· Time management.

· Strong problem-solving skills.

· Punctual and reliable.

Work and Education Requirements

· College degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience (e.g. 5 years work experience in a trade).

· Previous work experience (can include part time or summer employment during high school and college).

· Supervisor/lead hand experience is an asset.
