Typing in Braille
A small, handy device that allows blind users to type easily and quickly on smartphones in Braille, Dutch-designed, Hable One has six keys for letters, numbers, and punctuation based on the braille script. Invented to meet the needs of the founder’s grandfather, Hable won the Braille Plume, an award from the Braille Education and Promotion Association, and hopes to use it to support other new technologies.

Forever chemicals
Check your cupboards for non-stick cookware that may contain harmful chemicals called PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl). Used to make products resistant to heat, oil, stains, and water. PFAS contain compounds that can linger in our bodies and potentially have toxic consequences. The jury is still out but animal studies indicate affects on the liver, thyroid function, and the immune system.
