I hear a footstep
After a silent evening
You are home at last

Cats curled on my lap
Each carefully ignoring
The other’s presence
-~-~-~-~-~
In conversation
I make the wrong reference
You know what I meant

Watching a movie
The audience is quiet
Then two laughs ring out
-~-~-~-~-~
Two forks in the sink
Two spoons, two glasses, two plates
Four hands as we wash
