Zero-Budget Fundraising

Royal Bank of Canada Helps to Develop Fundraising Expertise
To meet increased program demands, fundraising has been a critical issue for Independent Living Resource Centres (ILRCs) across Canada. In an effort to equip local boards of directors and empower local consumers, a dynamic workshop was held at the Canadian Association of
Independent Living Centre’s (CAILC) recent AGM in Ottawa.

The Royal Bank of Canada sponsored this workshop, entitled "Zero-Budget Fundraising." Toronto-based consultant and presenter Ken Wyman gave his exciting and interactive presentation to delegates from across the country and to the CAILC Board.

It was obvious, from the dialogue generated during his presentation and from the feedback afterwards, that the "wheels got turning" on how to turn Mr. Wyman’s practical tips into action, so that ILRCs can maximize the resources in their communities and reach their individual goals
for program delivery. The material presented served as an effective complement to the marketing and media tools that ILRCs have received over the past year.

Mr. Wyman’s style effectively pulled ideas from our participants, which got others in the audience thinking about how they could adapt the ideas for their centres. People were so eager to talk about their ideas, it was difficult to bring them back after the break!

The workshop helped to fine-tune the skills of participants to approach our fundraising with enthusiasm and confidence, to reach our goals for future growth.

On behalf of our member ILRCs, CAILC extends its gratitude to the Royal Bank of Canada for sponsoring this important workshop.
