Two British Columbia organizations have something to celebrate. One has just opened its doors; the other is celebrating 10 years in operation. Both offer opportunities to people with disabilities living on the west coast.
The Resource Centre for Independent Living (RCIL) in Victoria has embarked on a new pilot project with the B.C. Ministry of Human Resources to house an information and referral service for people with disabilities. RCIL staff member Lisa Bacon says their goal is to "assist consumers using the office by providing information about community services that may increase their financial independence and community participation."

North Shore Employment Services, located in North Vancouver, is a non-profit organization assisting individuals with any type of disability in securing viable employment opportunities. It works with a variety of employers in the public and private sectors to increase awareness about the abilities of people with disabilities in the workplace and the community.
This organization develops employment opportunities for its clients based on the needs of the employer.
