Dr. Mickey Milner Receives Honourary Doctorate

Congratulations to Dr. Mickey Milner of Toronto, who this year received an honourary Doctor of Science from Queen’s University.

Morris (Mickey) Milner, Ph.D., P.Eng., C.C.E., is a board member of the Canadian Abilities Foundation. He is also former vice president of research at the Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre, a Toronto rehabilitation centre serving children and youth with disabilities. While there, he led the Rehabilitation Engineering and Research Departments.

At the Queen’s University convocation, Dr. Milner was described as “a leader and a visionary who, during his 25 years as director of biomedical engineering at today’s Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre, created an international reputation with a trademark child- and family-centred approach.” The honourary Doctorate of Science is the university’s highest award.

Dr. Milner is currently the managing director of the Health Technology Exchange (HTX), an online resource to support companies, organizations and institutions that are involved with the medical and assistive technology industry. The goals of this web portal are to generate connections and spawn activity that will result in world-class research, products, services and technologies that are made in Canada. The Health Technology Exchange can be viewed at www.htx.ca.
