Belonging

L'Arche Daybreak

By Brian Smith

L'Arche communities are impressive in their resolve and inspiring in their storeis. They are each true hubs of belonging. Here's a little about the L'Arche Daybreak community in Toronto.

L’Arche Daybreak is a vibrant community where men and women with intellectual disabilities and those who choose to share life with them live and work together.

L’Arche Daybreak is home to over 160 people - core members (adults with intellectual disabilities) and assistants - living in 14 homes (nine homes in Richmond Hill and five homes in Toronto).

We are active in our neighbourhoods. We also make the time to be with each other and connect with our friends. Home and community life are important to us.Our community radiates from our core members, who live mutuality, simplicity and honesty. They invite assistants, volunteers and employees into an enriching experience ranging from ordinary tasks to extraordinary celebrations.
