Moving On Wins Gemini Award

"Moving On," a CBC television half-hour magazine program on disability issues, recently won the Gemini award for Best Lifestyle Information Series. This honour from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television comes after only one season of production.

"Moving On" is the only national program on mainstream television in North America whose mandate is to empower, entertain and inform viewers about the lives of people with disabilities.

Featured on the show are debates on issues and profiles of individuals who have brought about change. Regular segments include: Tales from the Crips, a brash, in-your-face series of commentaries on living with a disability; Word Off the Street, personal insights from viewers; and Gadgets and Gizmos, featuring practical devices for people with disabilities.

The second season of "Moving On" begins November 28. Upcoming shows will feature horseback riding, accessible housing and an employment initiative for people with disabilities. For more information, check out the CBC website at http://www.cbc.com.
